1. Would you introduce yourself?

Hello, I am a voice actor, Woo Sung-eun. My occupation is acting with my voice. In addition, I act with my voice in advertising videos, animations, and movies which need additional narrations.

2. Are there any difficulties in juggling studying and working?

I started Konkuk University in twenty-four years old, after I became a voice actor. My superiors recommended me to do actor’s acting, so I tried it. It was really well-suited to me, and I decided to study acting. I became a freelancer after two years working in KBS, and then I entered KU through the entrance examination. There was a difficulty in time adjustment between working and attending lectures.

3. Would you introduce videos that you participated in?

First, I participated in an Apple watch commercial when I was a freelancer. I remembered that I was shocked by the huge size of the recording studio. Recently, I did Uniqlo commercial, and it was really satisfying.

4. What is the charm of being a voice actor?

I think the most charming point is that there is no specific retirement age, so I can do this job for a long time. The most interesting thing is that I can express various roles with many sounds or expression, just like being a different person. Voice actors need to be trained and practice to do these actions, so I feel like I am doing something that only I can do.

5. When do you feel rewarded as a voice actor?

I feel most rewarded when I see my work done. Second, I also feel rewarded when I act various people like a girl, a boy, a grandmother, and so on in animation recording. It sounds like several people have played the role.

6. To be a voice actor, what should people do to prepare?

People who start to dream about being a voice actor usually try to change their original voice. When we hear our own voices recorded, we think “Is that really my voice?”, so it is really important to know your own voice. This kind of training is really helpful in narrations.

7. What is your most memorable episode while working as a voice actor?

When I just started at KBS, my first line was “Fire!”, and I really worried that I had to scream “Fire!” in front of many seniors.

Therefore, I practiced that line in my apartment the day before. During my practice, one of my neighbors mistook that there was a real fire, so she reported it to fire station. However, I did not act well on the recording day.

8. Do you have a goal as a voice actor?

I have done several commercials, but I have not done many animations, so I want to have a chance to act in an animation genre. I also started as an actress, so I want to appear on screen and announce voice actors more.
