The Office of Facilities carried out construction on the front curtain wall of the Student Union Building A from September 18 to October 25. The exterior wall replacement had been planned during the summer vacation. The Office of Facilities decided to replace the old front glass with LED image wall because the former wall was too old.

The new wall can improve thermal insulation of the building and show high-tech images. Konkuk University is using the LED image wall when there is an event like a fire drill or festival. Furthermore, the wall can promote KU’s programs for students.

However, the General Student Association (GSA), CHEONG SHIM and many students complained about this construction because the construction site was at the main entrance of the building and had been carried out during semester. In a written apology, Lim Yoong-ho, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs, said the construction was delayed due to the construction bid failing and was carried out during the semester to be completed before the festival.

Furthermore, he apologized for not fully explaining the situation to the students and for not asking for their understanding.
