An arena of unity opening up among students from diverse majors.

On November 2nd, in front of the Sangheo Hall at Konkuk University, the joint festival "(S)SHAKIT" organized by Konkuk Institute of Science and Technology (KIT) and the College of Social Sciences took place. (S)SHAKIT featured a daytime event from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by a pub event from 6:00 PM to 12:00 AM. Notably, the pub event was open to all Konkuk University students, regardless of their affiliation with KIT or the College of Social Sciences, fostering a sense of unity and enjoyment for all. The daytime booths were divided into four themes: Team A featured activity booths themed around various sports movies, Team B had a Harry Potter-themed problem-solving experience booth, Team C offered diverse interactive booths with a Disney movie concept, and Team D provided a picnic booth with music. Lee Si-hyun, a staff member of the daytime booths from the KIT Student Council, mentioned that the participation of KIT students who were not affiliated with the College of Social Sciences was a bit low, but expressed happiness that more students participated and enjoyed the event than the Student Council had anticipated.

When asked about the purpose of the event, Kwon Hee-jong, the president of the KIT Student Council, replied, "KIT students were able to participate in events organized by the KIT Student Council and department student councils, meeting not only fellow students from the same department but also students from various KIT departments. I aimed to create a space for unity and communication by providing KIT students with the opportunity to interact with students from completely different disciplines within our university."

When questioned about the decision to collaborate with the College of Social Sciences for the festival, considering many departments, Kwon Hee-jong explained, "While looking for units to collaborate on the festival, we noticed a shared commitment and found the College of Social Sciences, which is similar in scale to KIT. Additionally, there are many KIT students who double-major in departments within the College of Social Sciences, so we thought it would be an opportunity for KIT students to build camaraderie with students from the College of Social Sciences and gain useful information for their future studies in those departments."
