Reconnect with students who participated in a resistance in 1986

   From October 25 to October 27, ‘the 2023 Seongsinui Festival’ was held at Konkuk University. It started in order to commemorate the '10.28 Resistance', a student democratization movement that took place at KU.

   Theme of Festival in this year is ‘RE:CONNECT’, this means the reconnection of KU students in 2023 with the students from 1986 who participated in ‘The Konkuk Resistance’. In addition to photo exhibitions, various events were held, including exhibitions, booths, and club performances in which students participated. On the last day of festival, a wreath-laying ceremony was held. This art festival is not just for enjoying, but for praying and remembering.

   Resistance was a student democratization movement at Konkuk University from October 28 to 31, Under the slogan of 'Anti-foreign independence, Anti-dictatorship democratization, and Unification’. The protest lasted a total of 66 hours and 50 minutes over three days. It is also called the Konkuk University Occupation and the Konkuk University Occupation Incident.

   On the festival, at the booth, a photo exhibition related to the Konkuk Unification was held. Through this booth, students were able to see the memories of the Konkuk Resistance. On the last day, the man held a ceremony to honor the seniors who participated in the Konkuk Resistance in 1986 was held.

   The Sungsinui festival played a significant role in helping to remember the Konkuk Resistance. Many exchange students or international students from foreign countries participated in the festival. It is easy for foreigners to build through pamphlets, video production, and holding fun events related to ‘The Konkuk Resistance’. Meanwhile, there are lots of students who are from Korea don’t know well resistance either. Festival rolled notifying resistance to students from both overseas and Korea.
