Konkuk University carried out a “1,000 won breakfast campaign” in September. The purpose of this event was to increase the consumption of rice by encouraging students to have breakfast. With the financial support from universities and the government, 10 universities including KU offered food menu priced at 1,000 won for students.

KU held an event to celebrate the "1,000 won breakfast campaign" Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on September 20, 2017 at the executive office of KU. KU, OURHOME, Promotion and Information Service in Food, and the Ministry of Agriculture participated in this event.

In addition, the rate of skipping breakfast for those in their twenties has recorded its highest level at 49.1 percent. He also praised the cafeteria's efforts to offer students simple breakfast menus at a reasonable price. KU is also going to advertise the campaign through intramural promotional channels. Kim Yung-rok, Minister of Agriculture, said that it is important for students to develop the habit of having a healthy diet as pivots of our society. Through this agreement, they expect the campaign to spread all over the society. Finally, the Ministry of Agriculture and food providers at universities agreed to enhance their cooperation in terms of the project to increase the consumption of rice.
