Two campaign headquarters has shown their vision

On March 21, Konkuk University Media held a public hearing for two Genreal Student Association (GSA) candidates, REBOOT and Dashi. Due to COVID-19 situation, the public hearing was held online on YouTube channel of school’s Academic Broadcasting System (ABS).

The public hearing for the 54th GSA was originally planned to be held in November 2021 but has been delayed until now due to the resignation of vice presidential candidate of WAVE, the last campaign headquarter. As a result, WAVE has split up and GSA election has been aborted. Presidential candidate of WAVE, Cho Nam-chul, has formed a new campaign headquarter, REBOOT, and registered for the election. Also, the pledge manager of WAVE, Lee Woo-hyung, also formed a different campaign headquarter, Dashi, and registered as candidate. Lee explained that he broke up with Cho because they had some difference in their opinions. While Lee thought what matters the most was student’s opinion, Cho set student council as a high priority. However, Lee stated that he hopes the election to continue in good faith.

The public hearing was held in two parts. First part was consisted of the following contents: public relation (PR) of each campaign, verification of past careers, thoughts about school issues, evaluation of the last year’s GSA, and election pledges. REBOOT has promised the normalization of the student council and GSA based on years of experiences having worked for the GSA. Dashi promised to form a student council that can look diverse phenomenon from various angles and react responsively to thoughts of students. More of the election pledge can be found on the following link of GSA’s official Instagram (@student.konkuk).

Part two was consisted of debates between two campaign headquarters and answering the questions from the students. Thorough the debate, they have shared their views and thoughts about the issues around the school. Also from unexpected question, each headquarter was able to show how they will communicate with the students. Lastly, both campaigns asked for attention to the student council and to make a vote on the election.
