Updates regarding in-person class have been made

After two years of online class, Konkuk University finally decided to abrogate the current COVID-19 prevention measures and operate most classes face-to-face starting this semester. Accordingly, many changes have been made to KU’s existing COVID-19 prevention policy. Among these changes, this article will inform you about changes in access control to school buildings.

On-campus learning facilities including lecture rooms, and KU Smart Factory, and K-CUBE are opened to students. Lecture rooms are opened from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Under approval of each college’s administrative offices, lecture rooms can be opened until 9 p.m. KU Smart Factory in New Engineering Building was accessible on a limited basis to engineering students through advance reservation last year. As a result, the use of KU Smart Factory rapidly decreased from 1,840 sessions in 2019 to 151 sessions in 2021. However, from this year, the reservation will be freely opened to every student in KU. K-CUBE was also previously shut due to government’s COVID-19 prevention policy but will be opened from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sanghuh Memorial Library’s opening hours have been extended from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Reading room in the library opens from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. as before.

Student facilities and outdoor facilities including Student Union Building A, Student Union Building B, cafeteria, Cheongsimdae, and benches around campus are also opened. Student Union Building B, where the school club rooms are located, was previously shut for 2 years but will be opened from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. this semester. The cafeteria on the first floor of the Student Union Building A will be serving food from March 21. Other cafeterias’ opening plans are not yet firmed up.
